- I grew up in Portland, Oregon. I spent several years after college living in various cities, but ultimately returned to Oregon along with my husband. We have been active, couch potatoes, and somewhere in between over the course of our 25 year marriage. Last October, after a year of being sedentary, my cholesterol spiked to a point where my doctor told me I needed statin drugs. Well, I'm drug averse, so I researched what I needed to do to reduce my cholesterol and convinced my doctor to give me 60 days to get my cholesterol down. I did it! This blog is a way of sharing with others how we began changing our lives to avoid the cost and risks of drugs...when a natural solution might be a plausible solution. I respect my doctor's reaction to put me on statin drugs, and appreciate her willingness to let me try something different. I'm not giving health advice here--consult your doctor for that! I'm just sharing my story and my recipes. I hope you enjoy reading...and eating...and more!
